The hose pump is a peristaltic pump, which is a positive displacement pump used to pump a variety of fluids. The fluid is contained in a flexible tube mounted in a circular pump casing. As the shoe turns, the pressurized portion of the tube is squeezed closed (or "blocked"), forcing the fluid to be pumped to move through the tube.
